New students on campus may be noticing a small detail that others have gotten used to in their time at The New School: an absence of bottled water for sale. The New School banned the sale of bottled water years ago, namely because bottled water is expensive and wasteful — only one-third of all bottles are recycled, and they are derived from petroleum. But fear not! There are water bottle filling stations available to New School students all around the campus, and at restaurant locations nearby.
