Job Opportunity: Project Assistant
The Tishman Environment and Design Center is hiring a new Project Assistant. The Tishman Center fosters the integration of bold design policy, and social justice approaches to environmental issues to advance just and sustainable outcomes in collaboration with communities.The Tishman Center is a university-wide center. We work to support progressive innovation for sustainability, make justice and sustainability core literacies at The New School, and advance climate and environmental justice in the broader community.The Project Assistant will provide general support to the management and operations of the Center. The primary responsibilities of this position will be to contribute to our social media strategy and help plan and run Center events. This position will report directly to the Sustainability Associate.ResponsibilitiesGeneral duties include but are not limited to:
- Contributing to and advancing the Tishman Center’s social media strategy such as posting regularly on Twitter,Facebook, and the blog.
- Support for planning and running Tishman Center events including promotions, work orders and IT requests
- Supporting day-to-day operations of the Center, including updating the
- Maintaining a tidy, welcoming, and well-functioning office environment
- Maintaining excellent communication with co-workers in order to maintain continuity throughout the week on on-going tasks and projects
- Attending weekly staff meetings and keeping meeting minutes
When opportunities arise, student workers may also responsible for special projects such as:
- inventorying and cataloging print material collections
- supporting Affiliated Faculty projects
Required
- Current student with at least two semesters left in degree
- Excellent communication, organization, and customer service skills
- Proficiency with MS Word, MS Excel, MS Powerpoint, Google Drive
- Social media strategy experience and interest
- Ability to see something that needs to be done, and do it
- Ability to prioritize and complete important and time-sensitive tasks in a fast-paced environment
- Tenacity with solving problems and getting results
- Customer service-oriented and detail-oriented
- Exercise sound judgment and discretion with student information
- Available to work at least two shifts per week, up to 10 hours per week
Preferred
- Project Management experience
- Proficient in Adobe PhotoShop, InDesign, and/or Illustrator
- Availability to work over summer and winter breaks
