Description

From Jan. 4-15, Dr. Stephanie Gripne, Visiting Scholar, Tishman Environment and Design Center will be teaching a Winter Webinar Series, Social Impact Investing: Full Spectrum Capital, Community Stewards, and Capital Stewards.

Students will be introduced to impact investing and financial innovation concepts that include Full Spectrum Capital, Catalytic Capital, and Integrated Enterprise Investments. We will focus on overall governance, philanthropy, direct investments, and public investments of individual and organizational investors and explore 10-15 of Impact Finance Center’s 80+ tools. Specifically, students will learn about the importance of governance, including investment beliefs and evidence based attribution evaluation, philanthropic audits, and how to high level structure investments for social ventures (i.e., projects, nonprofits, small businesses, startups, cooperatives, tandem hybrids, and funds). Students will understand why venture capital is currently structured the way it is and how we can reimagine it for a more just and equitable world. Additionally, students will be introduced to key components of community infrastructure such as Investor Accelerators, aka Impact Investing Giving Circles, Investor Clubs, Impact Days, Regional Directories, and Impact Investing Institute. Finally, the students will be introduced to the Main Street 2.0 vision and National Impact Investing Marketplace.

Students will be required to read or watch recorded webinars and come to the live webinar prepared to discuss the pre-assigned readings.
