We are on Native Land. We uplift the health of the land and her people by centering Indigenous sovereignty and First Nations rights. This North East bioregion, so called New York State, is home to many neighboring Native nations. Today we will focus on Haudenosaunee liberation and struggle. As Indigenous people and allies, we fight to ensure a beautiful thriving future for the next seven generations. We can restore and uphold the most thorough care for the ground we stand on.
Join us for this community building conversation with members of the Haudenosaunee Confederacy to learn about and actively support their current land projects/land battles. Co-moderated by Dioganhdih Hall (Akwesasne Mohawk Nation) and Amanda Lickers (Cayuga Nation) this event will feature Kahsenniyo Williams (Mohawk Nation) from the 1492 Land Back Lane’s battle, Jaclyn Hall (Akwesasne Mohawk Nation) of Kanienkehaka Land Back Language Camp and Roger Jock (Akwesasne Mohawk Nation) push for rematriation in the Mohawk Valley. By centering land reclamation battles happening in the New York region, we hope to build community and solidarity across and around these ongoing battles.
This effort is being directed by queer Haudenosaunee organizers and supported by BIPOC EARTH, University Student Senate, The New School The Environmental Policy and Sustainability Management Program (EPSM), The New School and The Office of Civic Engagement & Social Justice at Eugene Lang College.
